August 2025 Wellness Resources
The narrative of capitalism insists that competition makes for a healthy market, yet the outcomes of this competitive approach appear to be anything but healthy. Since the birth of BlackFemaleProject in 2014, we’ve seen example after example of the benefit to be gained from choosing to support one another rather than compete. We continue to believe in and experience the power of collaboration, community, and cooperation.
As Black women in business in a context that prioritizes Whiteness and manhood, our success relies on our ability to source support from one another. In her BlackFemaleProject Community Spotlight, Co-founder of McBride Sisters Wine Company, Robin McBride, elevates the importance of making ourselves available to our peers. As mainstream narratives push a story of scarcity, we’re grateful to see evidence of abundance throughout our network, where lifting as we climb is more of a standard than an exception. This month, we invite you to consider your relationship to being a resource and to seeking the resources you need.
RESOURCES FOR THRIVING
REFLECTION QUESTIONs:
What skills, insights, or resources do you have to offer to other women in your network?
In what ways are you currently making yourself available to others? If this isn’t something you’ve already been doing, in what ways might you be able to?
What’s a current need or challenge you’ve been navigating on your own? Who can you call on to provide support?
