JUNE 2026 Wellness Resources

Happy Juneteenth and Summer Solstice! With the new season comes renewed intentions, growth, and reflection on the first half of the year. It is also an invitation to reflect on the importance of Juneteenth and its history.

On June 19th, 1865, the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas finally learned that they were free from slavery, nearly 2 years following the Emancipation Proclamation. The now federally acknowledged holiday is in remembrance of those strong ancestors who had to wait for their freedom. Here at BlackFemaleProject, we invite our employees, team members, and community to reclaim the day through rest and reflection on the resilience of our ancestors. Their fight for freedom laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement, Black Lives Matter Movement, and all future movements to come. From their experiences, our ancestors share their knowledge of activism, purpose, and community with us all. This Juneteenth, we hope that you spent your time resting with others in community, remembering the tireless work of those who came before us.

REFLECTION QUESTIONs:

We all have ancestors that paved the way for us. Who are some Black woman ancestors who created pathways for your success and activism?

What are ways you can acknowledge and celebrate Juneteenth this year and in the years to come?

When you reflect on the first half of 2026, what are the feelings and emotions that rise to the surface of your mind?

Looking ahead, how can you infuse more passion and intention into the second half of this year?
