Reflections: Black Joy Parade
On Sunday February 22nd, BlackFemaleProject joined the larger Oakland and Bay Area community at the 9th Annual Black Joy Parade. Our booth was placed at the entrance of our partner’s activation, Black Vines, an activation that invites festival goers to have a wine tasting experience. We greeted hundreds of people coming in and out of the booth and shared the work and mission of BlackFemaleProject.
This year, we created a number of exciting ways for the community to engage and stay connected with us. There was a raffle for a pair of tickets to the 2027 Black Vines experience and a giveaway of our 10th anniversary tee. We also soft launched our new online merchandise store and displayed t-shirts from our various industry collections like “Thank You, Black Educators” and “Thank You, Black Nurses.” We invited those who stopped by to give us their suggestions for industries that we could consider adding to the store in the future.
And of course, we couldn’t have done this without our staff and team of volunteers. Thank you to all of the volunteers who showed up, helped out, and represented BlackFemaleProject with poise and grace.
