Reflections: Black Vines Wine Festival
On February May 28th BlackFemaleProject joined Black Vines at the 15th Annual Festival at Ciel Creative Space in Berkeley, California. We are the proud non-profit partner of Black Vines and spent the day soaking up the energy of culture, connection, and of course wine. The entire space was buzzing with wine makers, artists, musicians, and wine lovers.
This year, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our Inaugural Story Collection — the collection that started the movement that has become BlackFemaleProject. We filled the main walkway with inspirational quotes from the eleven women who gathered, processed, and wrote about their own unique, yet shared experiences at work.
Again this year, BlackFemaleProject managed the collaborative merchandise store and helped guests take home their own swag and piece of the celebration to commemorate the day. Following our soft launch at Black Joy Parade the weekend before, we officially opened our store and witnessed the excitement and pride of guests taking home shirts like “Thank You, Black Doctors” or “Thank You, Black Artists" or “Because of a Black Woman.” We happily invited more input to our “What Industry Tee Should We Do Next” prompt from Black Joy Parade.
Our founder, Precious J. Stroud presented the Black Vines founder Fern Stroud with a beautiful piece of handmade art to celebrate the 15 year milestone and we toasted to another 15 years ahead of celebrating Black wine, art, culture, and excellence in the Bay Area and beyond.
Thank you to the Black Vines team for being in community with us and for continuously championing our mission.
