In celebration of Women’s History Month, BlackFemaleProject joined TAP Wine Lounge for their monthly event, Wine Women Win which invites Black women business owners and other locals to learn about services, resources, potential partnerships, and more while enjoying wine and networking. 

On February May 28th BlackFemaleProject joined Black Vines at the 15th Annual Festival at Ciel Creative Space in Berkeley, California. We are the proud non-profit partner of Black Vines and spent the day soaking up the energy of culture, connection, and of course wine. The entire space was buzzing with wine makers, artists, musicians, and wine lovers. 

This year, we created a number of exciting ways for the community to engage and stay connected with us. There was a raffle for a pair of tickets to the 2027 Black Vines experience and a giveaway of our 10th anniversary tee.

On January 21st, our 2026 event calendar kicked off with our 4th annual New Year Visioning event entitled Imagine That: a guided vision board experience and dream space. This powerful workshop is beloved for its offering of space to dream, space to connect, and a curated playlist that keeps the energy flowing.

I started BlackFemaleProject because it was important to me to document our stories in real time, not 50 years later. I’ve grounded our research in a commitment to truth telling and the lived realities of the workplace experience for Black women of all ages.

In our final event of the year, board member Ché Abram guided us through a brief presentation and discussion around getting comfortable with discomfort so that we can both advocate for ourselves and improve the world for others.

BlackFemaleProject has been in reflection and celebration mode in our 10th anniversary year! One major way we’re living into our anniversary theme, Because of a Black Woman, is with events curated and presented by many of the Black women who’ve supported our work over the years.

Black Women At Work — On Refusal and Recovery

On January 12, 2023, BlackFemaleProject community members came together for Own Your Story, a workshop presented by brand strategist, Olivia Christian.

In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. day of service, we are reflecting on our service to the community. As Dr. King said, if you want to serve, all you need is a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.

In this installment of Staying Connected, we focus on the entrepreneurship of Black women. The creative innovation and self-sustaining ambition of Black women goes way back in history and has recently gained more mainstream recognition and investment. But we know that Black women deserve endless praise (and that it is always the right time to invest in Black women!).

This month, we invite you to reflect on the ways love is present in your life through self, nature, and relationships, and to deepen your connection to work that makes you feel free.

As a storytelling project, we understand that we’re part of a tradition our ancestors have sustained for generations. Our Teacher Truth project carries forward a long legacy of leveraging data and storytelling to improve educational experiences for Black people.
